Putney Bridge

As of 14 July 2014, Putney Bridge was closed for three months, except to pedestrians and dismounted cyclists, to undergo essential repairs by Wandsworth council to protect the bridge from damage caused by water penetration, which has contributed to the grade 2 listed structure’s poor road surface. While the bridge was closed for repair the original lighting columns and lanterns, which date back to 1886, have been refurbished by lighting specialist JW UK. The install was over seen by our very own Andy Jones.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThe lanterns themselves were originally gas fed and have had a number of updates including Sox, Son and cdott.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThe finished article looks amazing with the public regularly stopping to tell us so.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERANot often you will see Putney Bridge this quiet.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERAThe lanterns have now been converted to a Phillips fast flex LED system which will dramatically improve running costs.
